Bonus for Farmers: The Jharkhand government plans to provide a bonus of ₹109 per quintal to paddy farmers during the 2026–27 procurement season.
The proposed incentive will come in addition to the Centre’s Minimum Support Price (MSP).
State Food and Public Distribution Minister Irfan Ansari announced the plan.
The proposed bonus marks an increase from ₹81 per quintal in the previous year.
Government Targets Procurement of 40 Lakh Quintals
Jharkhand has set a target of procuring 40 lakh quintals of paddy during the upcoming procurement season.
Based on this target, the state estimates that it will need approximately ₹43.60 crore to fund the proposed bonus.
The government aims to provide farmers with additional financial support through this incentive.
The bonus will supplement the MSP that farmers receive for their produce.
Bonus Proposal Before the Committee
According to the report, the government placed the proposal for the additional expenditure before the Plan Authorised Committee for consideration.
The proposal outlines the financial requirement for the planned procurement target.
The state will need to complete the approval process before it can implement the bonus scheme.
What the Proposed Bonus Means for Farmers
The proposed increase from ₹81 to ₹109 per quintal offers farmers a higher incentive than last year.
It could help improve returns for paddy growers and support their agricultural income.
