Jharkhand BJP: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin visited Jharkhand from October 23 to 25 to strengthen the party’s organisation and outline its political strategy ahead of the 2029 Assembly elections.
He arrived in Ranchi on October 23 and addressed the party’s state executive committee meeting on October 24.
Nabin urged party workers to expand the BJP’s presence at the booth level and work towards bringing the party back to power in Jharkhand.
His visit followed a recent organisational revamp in the state unit, which appointed new office-bearers and organisational in-charges.
Nitin Nabin’s Ranchi Visit: Key Dates and Programme
Nabin’s three-day programme focused on organisational meetings, discussions with party leaders and preparations for future political activities.
- October 23: Nabin arrived at Ranchi airport at around 7 pm and began his organisational engagements with state BJP leaders.
- October 24: He met district presidents and district in-charges at Sukurhutu in Ranchi at 11 am. He then addressed the state executive committee meeting at 2 pm.
- October 25: His schedule included further organisational programmes and interactions with local party leaders.
The two-day state executive committee meeting on October 24 and 25 provided a platform for party leaders to review organisational activities and discuss the BJP’s future priorities in Jharkhand.
BJP Focuses on 2029 Assembly Elections
Addressing party workers on October 24, Nabin called for a concerted effort to secure the BJP’s return to power in the 2029 Assembly elections.
He urged workers to strengthen the party’s presence across the state and reach voters through its grassroots network.
Nabin also described Jharkhand as a stronghold of the BJP, a claim that drew criticism from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
The visit comes as the BJP seeks to improve coordination between its state leadership, district units and booth-level workers.
The party also plans to highlight the Union government’s welfare schemes and take its political message directly to the public.
Nabin Targets Congress and Hemant Soren Government
Nabin criticised the Congress over its record on constitutional institutions and democratic values.
He accused the party of invoking constitutional principles despite what he described as its failure to uphold them in the past.
He also targeted the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, corruption and the law-and-order situation.
Referring to student’s grievances over recruitment and examination issues, Nabin accused the state government of failing to address their concerns adequately.
These remarks formed part of the BJP’s broader criticism of the state government.
The allegations reflect the party’s political position and require assessment against relevant evidence and official records.
Congress and JMM Reject BJP’s Claims
Congress general secretary Lal Kishor Nath Shahdeo rejected Nabin’s allegations and accused the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of acting against constitutional values.
He argued that the Congress had played a key role in framing and protecting the Constitution.
JMM general secretary Vinod Pandey also challenged Nabin’s description of Jharkhand as a BJP stronghold.
Pandey said the state did not belong to any political party and that its people would decide who governed it.
The exchanges highlight the differences between the BJP and the opposition over constitutional values, governance and Jharkhand’s political identity.
Why the Visit Matters
Nabin’s visit signals the BJP’s focus on long-term organisational preparation rather than limiting its activities to election campaigns. By bringing district leaders and state-level office-bearers together, the party aims to strengthen its network and establish priorities for the coming years.
Recruitment-related controversies, corruption allegations and law-and-order concerns may feature prominently in the BJP’s political outreach. The party will seek to use these issues to question the state government’s performance, while the JMM and Congress continue to challenge the BJP’s accusations.
The visit also highlights the importance of internal coordination as the BJP develops its strategy for the 2029 Assembly elections.
What Lies Ahead?
The BJP’s immediate task involves translating its organisational plans into sustained engagement with voters across Jharkhand.
Its performance will depend on how effectively party leaders coordinate at the district and booth levels and communicate their agenda to the public.
Meanwhile, the JMM and Congress have made it clear that they will contest the BJP’s claims over governance, constitutional values and the state’s political future.
