Amit Shah challenges Opposition: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc to debate the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in Parliament.
Shah made the remarks during a BJP padyatra in Hyderabad.
He said the government stands ready to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss both issues.
The challenge comes amid growing political differences between the BJP and opposition parties over electoral processes.
The Congress and several INDIA bloc leaders have repeatedly raised concerns about voter list revisions and the functioning of EVMs.
Shah Accuses Congress of Opposing Voter List Revision
During his address, Shah accused the Congress of opposing the process to remove Bangladeshi infiltrators from electoral rolls.
He argued that the SIR exercise plays an important role in maintaining accurate voter lists.
He also challenged the opposition to present its arguments directly in Parliament.
The Home Minister’s remarks add another dimension to the ongoing political confrontation between the ruling BJP and the opposition.
Special Parliament Session: No Official Notification Yet
Shah expressed the government’s willingness to hold a special parliamentary session for a detailed discussion on SIR and EVMs.
The next political developments will depend on how the Congress and other INDIA bloc parties respond to Shah’s challenge.
The proposed debate could bring electoral transparency, voter list verification and EVM-related concerns into sharper national focus.
